Surgery!

Things went well. we got to the surgicenter about 7 and got all registered. He was a happy little fellow, which was good considering we'd woken him up at 11pm the night before to give him a little feed, but hadn't eaten since. we got led back to the um, back area at about 8. first they had us change him into this little gown (which was SO cute - see pictures) and then took us to a little curtain area. They gave him some something to loosen him up like a little drunk. it took a while, and in the mean time the doctor came in and chatted with us, and initialled luke's belly on the side he was supposed to be working on. Then the anesthesiologist was supposed to come in but while we were waiting, luke pooped. so, we (mom and i) took him to the bathroom to change him and we open up the diaper and its green and orange!! apparently he hadn't digested his carrots from the night before too well. very weird. so, I'm changing him and get the new diaper under him, cream on his butt and all of a sudden my leg feels wet. I'm wondering why, so I look down and he has peed and pooped again!! so, we change him again and get back to the curtain area. I'm holding him and all of a sudden I feel and hear a SPLAT!! He had pooped again!! so we go back, had to borrow some wipes, b/c by this time I"m on my second to last diaper and am out of wipes. luckily, he didn't poop again! But we got back to the curtain area, the anesthesiologist comes back to see us, and a few minutes later luke gets very drunk looking. kinda funny, until the nurse came to get him from me. The surgery only lasted about 1/2 hour or so and the doc came out to the waiting area and told us all had gone well and we'd be able to see him in about 15 minutes. They came and got us and my dad and I went back first and saw him. He was just laying there on the bed and got a little fussy when he saw me. So, he got to have a bottle of water and calmed down. He got a hit of codeine prior to leaving and dozed in the car on the way home. When we got home he was all hyped up, crawling here and there (see video). Eventually we all fell asleep and at about 2:15 we woke up and he was starting to get sore, so we gave him more tylenol and he calmed back down. He ate some food, but threw it up, the chunks might have been a little big for him. But was very happy (again, see video). But all together it was a good day. He slept well, only waking once and we gave him a bottle and some more painkillers to get him through.
