of wine and whining....

Friday we checked out of our Statesville hotel and started to journey home. We decided to go a different route b/c the journey over the Smokey Mountains had been horrible the first time (think vomit - Lisa, not Lucas) so we thought we'd search for an alternative. To start with though, we went to Lexington, NC and to the Childress Vineyards. Richard Childress is also an owner of a stock car team. The Vineyards were beautiful. We did a tour and lunch. Lucas lasted about 3/4 of the way through the tour before he got antsy and started whining. So, I took him down the hall and we wandered around. For those who know him, he's started doing "Knuckles" (which he pronounces "Duckles"). So, him being him, he tries to give "duckles" to everything around....even a statue. He didn't quite get why it wasn't doing it back.

the Rose at the end of the aisle in the vineyard is because roses are so much more sensitive to changes in the soil and diseases that if something effected the roses, they would have a little time to take steps to try and minimize the effect on the grapes. They are now there more for beauty than anything though.

after the Vineyard we got on the road home, we chose to go through Virginia and then West Virginia where we decided to stop for the night.
